6 Reasons Why Church Camp is Great for Homeschoolers

Young Man and I are at church camp this week. This will be our 4th annual year attending. Each year I’ve watched my son becoming more independent while there. He looks forward to this week all year long.

Church camp for Socialization

This past week, leading up to us coming here, he was even praying for Mr. Gampp our camp director to be able to lead us well at camp and that we would have a safe week. That shows both how much he loves camp, but that he’s learned to think of the needs of others, not just the fun he has.

5 Reasons Why Homeschoolers Should Go To Church Camp

I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you some reasons why I think church camp is great for homeschoolers.

Church camp can help kids over come fears.

  • A week filled with like-minded Christians.
  • A week full of socialization.
  • A week of your child learning the most important skills that only a lunchroom can provide. Sharing a table, standing in line, choosing which foods to add to the plate, being social at mealtime. Just to name a few.
  • A week of conquering fears.
  • A week of learning how to get along with others, meeting them on their level and finding ways to work together as a team.
  • A week of learning how to be independent.
Homeschooling, especially homeschoolers who are only children, can find a common ground with their public school peers on the camp fields. Together, these children have fun, work together, learn together, play together and even sleep together in their cabins. It’s socialiaztion at it’s best. But, at church camp it isn’t called, socialization, it’s called fellowship. And, it’s a good thing.

Be sure to visit with my friend Eva Varga, she has a fantastic Summer Camp Journal Freebie.
