Every Knee Devotion & 30 Day Link Up Day 4

EVERY KNEE

My dad has often said, “There’ll be no atheist in hell.” People often pause and you can see they are confused by this statement. Afterall, for a Christian knows anyone who does not believe in God the Creator will be judged to hell. Dad’s point is quite valid I assure you though.

Isaiah 45:23 NKJV
“I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath.”

Romans 14:11
“For it is written: “As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.”

Philippians 2:9-11
9 “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

You see for those of us who know God, we believe in the resurrection of the dead. We believe that those who are found in Christ have confessed His name and bow to him and the Father regularly in prayer. We are not afraid of what comes after death because we know that God is in control and He has promised an eternal reward to those who are in Christ Jesus. Jesus said  in John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

For those who believe and obey are promised an everlasting rest while those who do not know God are promised an everlasting destruction.

2 Thessalonians 1:6-10
” since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe,[a] because our testimony among you was believed.”

You see when God promises something He keeps it. Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is the Lord to the glory of God. Did you get that? EVERY KNEE, EVERY TONGUE. For those who chose to make that confession and act in obedience in this life will receive their promised reward. For those who do not in this lifetime it shall be that they will call upon the Lord, bow to the Lord, but it shall be everlastingly too late.

But you can rest assured, by the time hell comes for those outside the household of faith, they will believe that God is. There are no atheists in hell.

Giving Thanks Day 4

Today I am so very thankful for an answered prayer. For about 4 years I prayed for the Lord to lead me to a close friend, one who had a good and loving heart and who had a spirit of service to him. 2 years ago that friend and I found each other. She also had prayed for a similar friend. Yesterday I was scrolling through some facebook messages she and I had shared searching for a link to something. I didn’t find it. Instead I found as I re-read the beauty of our friendship expressed in loving honesty, spiritual encouragement, gentle rebuke and kind forgiveness that can only truly be expressed between 2 spiritual sisters who were brought together by a loving Father. Today I am thankful for my dear friend Karen. You are the answer to my prayer.

Proverbs 12:26
“The righteous should choose his friends carefully, For the way of the wicked leads them astray.”

Most gracious Father again you heard my prayer and answered with a beautiful answer. I thank you for my friend Karen. I thank you for her good and loving heart. I thank you that her spirit guides her to  seek you out in all she does and that she encourages me to do the same. I thank you for her giving spirit that offers compassion to the orphans, the widows and all those who are in need. I thank you that her kindness is tempered with love and joy. Oh dear Father, you have been so merciful to bring Karen and I into what has become an abundant friendship. You not only have allowed us to grow in closeness, but our husbands are good friends as well. I am truly, humbly thankful. In the blessed name of your precious Son and my savior Jesus the Christ I pray.
