In the Spring of 2012 I went to the Great Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati. It was my second year attending that convention and I was extremely excited to find that they had a gifted homeschooler track that year. It was the first time I had opportunity to sit at the feet of some excellent speakers regarding the topic of gifted and talented education. Since that time I have continued to research and learn as much as I can about the subject so that I am better able to help my gifted learner.
That’s why I’m excited to share with you that the organizers at Great Homeschool Convention continue to offer encouragement for homeschool families.
This week they are offering a free download of the book “How Am I Smart? A Parent’s Guide to Multiple Intelligences?” by Dr. Kathy Koch.
While I have begun to recognize that some children are born with advanced learning abilities, I also fully believe that ALL children, (all people), are gifted. God blesses each person with gifts according to their abilities as He deems best for their lives. So for me the term gifted and talented education never did quite sit right.
In this book Dr. Koch talks about how everyone is smart but that they are smart in different ways. This book offers a tool to parents and children to learn how they are smart. In other words, what area of intelligence each child thrives in.
I am so excited by this giveaway. I can’t wait to download and read it. Plus, I noticed that Dr. Koch will be speaking at next spring’s Great Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati, so once again I will be able to sit at the feet of an expert and learn from her wealth of knowledge. How exciting is that? Be sure to get your own copy of “How Am I Smart? A Parent’s Guide to Multiple Intelligences?” by Dr. Kathy Koch at Great Homeschool Conventions new website.
