Homeschooling today looks so different than when I first got started. My son is older and officially a high school homeschooler this year. With that our scheduling looks quite different. This coming year we’ll be doing piano, homeschool co-op, First LEGO League, and likely other outsourced activities. Which means homeschool planning needs to be flexible.

Homeschooling is a different form of education. It allows us the freedom to educate at our own pace, take a vacation at various times throughout the year, and even drop what we are doing for an impromptu field trip. With all of this, we need the ability to shift and move events, lessons, and plans on the calendar without worrying about messing something up.
I learned early on in my homeschooling experience that having a year-long lesson plan can start to feel like a ball and chain and I wanted to break free from that feeling of imprisonment. Over the years I’ve become an eclectic homeschooler. But even with that, I know I need to have a guide, an overview of what I want to accomplish in an academic year. I know to stay somewhat on track with those goals, I need to keep a plan in place but I want one that’s flexible enough to allow me to make shifts and changes throughout our school days.
When I learned about this new app, Flexible School Schedule I got so excited. It’s currently in development by an experienced homeschooling family.
A Different Kind of Homeschool Planning App

Help Develop this Homeschool Planning App
Flexible School Schedule is being developed by Phillip and Lanaya Gore. They are a homeschooling family with four children. You may know her through curricula she has written; Delightful Reading Kits 1-3, Laying Down the Rails for Children, A is for Art: A Fine Art Alphabet Book, and other curricula published by Simply Charlotte Mason. Together they are planning and working toward developing this app which we homeschoolers will be able to use on any device that has web access.
If you are a homeschool parent who prefers to plan your lessons without the hindrance of a calendar, perhaps writing out lesson plans via subject, and then setting goals to be met but without the restraint of a specific time frame, then Flexible School Schedule can help you to keep all of it more organized and at the ready wherever you may be.
But, they need your help. Developing a web-based application takes time, and money to put together. That’s where you come in. You can help this family by funding the development of this homeschool planning app, Flexible School Schedule. Which then, allows you the opportunity to access and try out the app before others do. You may even be able to provide input and influence how the end product would work.
