Miss the GHC in Cincinnati? Make Plans for Ontario, California
I had such a wonderful time at the Great Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati last month that I wanted to share with you why I go each year and how it has helped me to grow as a homeschooling mom. When you have tens of thousands homeschooling families under one roof, you can’t help but be encouraged. It truly helps you to know that you are not alone.
This sponsored post shares information about the upcoming +Great Homeschool Conventions as well as dates for next year. I’ve shared affiliate links to their website so you can discover even more about all that they have to offer.
I had plenty of time to visit with vendors as well as sit in on some seminars that truly met my specific needs. For example; I sat in on 2 of Dr. Kathy Koch’s seminars. One was The Perfectionistic Child, and the other was the 12 Characteristics of Genius. Both of which, helped me to consider how I approach educating my son.
I also heard Attorney David Gibbs from discuss some important legal issues for homeschoolers. And I listened to +Leah Nieman from +CurrClick.com talk about how we can utilize online classes to enhance our children’s homeschooling experience.
Oh By the Way, this photo only represents 1/2 the size of the vendor hall! |
In the vendor hall I narrowed down some choices for next year. I bought American and State history at reduced for convention pricing. I also was able to pick up a dissection kit with samples to complete our study of swimming creatures for this year, and I didn’t have to pay for shipping. I also discovered some delightful new products that I am glad to know are on the market.
My husband and I went together and spent some time alone, outside of convention. It was a good way to reconnect. It also is a great way for him to look at homeschooling through the eyes of other parents. He always walks away with a renewed commitment to support and encourage me through the year.
We were blessed to hear Matt Walsh from +The Matt Walsh Blog. It’s refreshing to hear someone, especially one so young, standing up and saying what is right and what is wrong! There is no gray area! If you have a chance to hear him, you should.
We loved hearing Dr. Ben Carson. Beloved was so great to stand in line for an autograph. I had to be elsewhere during that time, but I was thrilled to be able to sit at his feet during his keynote address. The man is quite impressive, yet humble, God honoring and wise, oh so wise.
As a homeschool blogger it was so nice to sit and chat with some of my friends from the +iHomeschool Network in real life over icecream. It was like we had known each other for years! Even our husbands enjoyed the experience.
So where does that leave you? If you missed either the Greenville, South Carolina or the Cincinnati, Ohio Great Homeschool Convention, you have one more opportunity to attend this year. They will be in Ontario Canada June 12-14, 2014. That’s coming up in just about a month. So be sure to hop over and register today.

Renee,
I had SUCH a great time. I went to the convention in Cincy feeling discouraged about homeschooling — getting the chance to take a break and look at things through fresh eyes has helped.
So honored to meet y’all in person! Such a fun, fun weekend!
I’m so glad to hear that you found GHC as beneficial & encouraging as I do. I hope to see you again next year! Or next month if you can make it to CBus for our litle blogger meetup. 🙂
