Remembering Mother‘s Day with a Giveaway
There is just something special about the relationship between a mom and her child. It is a relationship that most often remains strong long after the child has grown into adulthood. That is why we celebrate one day, Mother’s Day, in recognition of our mom’s.

“Let your father and your mother be glad,And let her who bore you rejoice.” Proverbs 23:25 NKJV
A Little Mother’s Day History
Did you know that the first Mother’s Day observance happened in my home state of West Virginia? It did, in a small town called, Grafton. It is there where you will find the International Mother’s Day Shrine.
It is located in the church where the observance first occurred in recognition of Ann Jarvis, a woman who had served as a nurse during the civil war and had worked to promote better sanitation conditions, helping to save lives on both sides of the conflict.
Following her death, her daughter, Anna, petitioned the church where her mother had taught Bible classes to hold a Mother’s Day Celebration as a way to remember the woman who had served others. They agreed and the first observance happened May 10, 1908.
Following that observance Anna began the Mother’s Day Association having formulated a plan to expand the observance to recognize all mothers. On April 26, 1910, WV Governor Glasscock issued a proclamation declaring the first official Mother’s Day in the state. Later in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson officially declared Mother’s Day to be a national holiday.
Here we are 100 years later, still celebrating the lives and love of our moms.

My whole life is full of favorite mom memories..and praise God, we are still creating them!
That is a truly wonderful blessing.
I appreciate the way you take the time to write about meaningful reminders. I didn’t know the story of Mother’s Day and love to hear that it is so simple, yet has remained in place for so long. Thank you for all you share.
My favorite mom memory would be the times that my mother has taken the time to come be with me for the birth of my children. She nurtures and supports and helps, making the transition to a growing family so much easier. – Lori H
That is a blessing. Mothers are mothers for life not just 18 years.
This is a wonderful giveaway! Thanks for the opportunity!
You are welcome.
My favorite memory of my mom is the ladies retreats that we’ve attended together.
Those would be wonderful memories created together.
Great Giveaway!
Thank you.
My favorite memory of my mom is shopping with her as a tween and teen… she passed away when I was 21… and my favorite mom memories with each of my children are their births… I’m due with our 8th next month!
Congratulations Clarrissa, what a marvelous heritage fromt the LORD.
It must be diffiuclt to face your moms passing at such a young age, glad you have wonderful memories with her.
I’m not sure I can come up with just one favorite memory about my mom! I think lately it has been the time we’ve spent creating art together… it’s amazing to have a mom who shares your favorite hobby, you know?
That is fabulous Joan!
My favorite mom memory would probably be my first child’s birth, although all of them were special and amazing there is just something about that *first* birth that really sticks with a mom <3
I am sure that is true weavingmama. 🙂
My mom and I took 4 young kids to the beach with us once several years ago. I don’t know what we were thinking, but that was a crazy trip! I still laugh when I think about all the shenanigans from that trip. I will definitely never forget it.
That sounds like a fun and fabulous trip!
Hmm… favorite memory is probably the way she cried the first time she held my son.
Ah that is a sweet memory.
My favorite mom memory would be when we would sit out on the front porch and talk about our days. I was a teenager having problems with the kids in school and she would listen and try to help me overcome my sadness of the day. She’s a great mom and I love her so much. If I can be half a mother like her I will be a great mom too.
What a beautiful mom testimony. 🙂
My mom and I have never been close, but I’ve enjoyed watching her bond with my daughters, especially my oldest. They’re both creative.
This is such a precious give away. Thank you.
Grandmas and grandchildren do have a way don’t they?
Oh, I don’t think I can narrow it down to just one (whether I’m thinking of memories I’ve shared with my own Mom, or memories I have being a Mom to 6 busy blessings!)…but a recent memory is visiting my Mom and watching her play baseball with her 5 year old grandson…not bad for a 68 year age difference between the two!
That is a great, great memory. Isn’t it amazing how a grandparent makes playing with kids seem like it’s the most natural thing in the world, while we have to “make time for it.” ?
I don’t have many of my mom, but my favorite as a mom, was holding my son for the first time.
That is a truly wonderful blessing.
All the times she was there supporting me
Yes mom’s are great that way.
becoming a first time mom at age 37…best mom moment ever!
that is a great mom moment!
I don’t have one memory, but I love that my mom is such a great grandma to my kids.
That is a great memory that keeps going and going and…
Seeing my mom hold both my babies for the first time was a pretty special moment for me.
Oh what wonderful memories.
Probably when my mom and grandmother and I and my four kids went to JoAnns together. My grandmother was going to teach me to knit and we were picking out supplies. She asked me what I wanted to make first and I said “I don’t know booties or a baby sweater or something.” She said “are you trying to say something?” I didn’t know it at the time, but I was already expecting my fifth little one.
Ah that is pretty special!
It is so hard to remember past a year or two for me. Last year the kids made made me a huge spool that goes outside and used their hand prints to decorate it. It was so precious!
How sweet. 🙂
My mom is amazing! Love all the memories of visiting them now and spending time with her now that we are both moms. She did and does so much for us.
🙂 It’s amazing how we bond with our moms after we become moms isn’t it?
I don’t know that I can make ONE memory stand out other than the rest however I love our time at the beach more than anything. I love our picnics and hikes too! They are my favorites I guess!
It would be nice walking the beach with mom.
There is no way to pick a favorite mom moment. I have great joy being a mom to 4 blessings and I have a wonderful mom that I have wonderful memories with.
That is wonderful that your memory bank is filled to the brim.
i know it might be cliche–but all 4 of my children’s births were the most blessed and exciting days of my life. best memories.

I am sure that is true.
There are so many memories that I cherish that I can’t pick just one. All I can say is that every day with my family is a great memory.
That is a great attitude.

One of my favorite memories of my mom is her making my wedding dress. I was a true labor of love!
Oh yes that is a labor of love. What an amaking memory and keepsake to share within the family as well.
My favorite was when my mom would read to me.
Oh yes, that is one of my favorite memories of my mom too. She read to us all the time.
Would love to win this great basket!
Thanks for registering.
When my oldest daughter held our baby boy the day he was born! 🙂
Oh that is a super sweet memory.
My mom always takes me to lunch. I appreciate that. 🙂
What a blessing to live close enough to your mom to be able to do that.
