Thoughts of Peace

Devotional Thoughts of Peace by Renée at Great Peace Academy

Moms, it’s hard work being a parent. It’s also hard work training our children to know God’s peace. Life can get overwhelming, tiring, and sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves in the bustle of taking care of our families. This is especially true when it comes to nurturing our souls. And far too often we find ourselves filling our hunger for Him with vain things of this world. We need to be growing in peace that passes understanding, yet find ourselves feeling worrisome, discontent and often, alone.

He says, “Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness…” Matthew 5:6. Are you hungry and thirsting for right living? Are you seeking God through Christ for your own soul? Without filling up our hearts with God’s word we can not nurture our children to know God’s peace. Nor can we truly support our husbands in their role as head of the home, (Ephesians 5:23).

I wish I could say that I have perfected the balance of nurturing myself as well as the family. But I have not. I struggle just like most moms I know to fill my soul. But I do try.

This is one of the reasons why I have wanted to add this section to the blog. Growing in Peace is as much about my need to grow in God’s word as it is about wanting to share study of His word with you. I pray that you will find encouragement for your soul through studies and resources that I share here at Great Peace Academy.

Finding Peace: Favorite Bible Study Resources | Great Peace Academy

Studying scripture can be daunting for many, but it doesn’t have to be. God gave us His word so that we can learn to draw closer to him, walk rightly with Him and learn His will for our lives. Which is why he desires for us to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15. Yet, we also know that in order to understand what we read there may be times when we need some one to guide us. Which is why I want to share with you my favorite online resources for studying God’s word, finding devotional materials, or study guides.

“…Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me?” Acts 8:30,31.
