This Week… Family Photo’s and Family Time
This was a good week in our little school room. I haven’t yet felt like I could say that this year. Not sure I can say we have hit our groove, but I’m starting to feel that we are beginning to make progress.
Bible:
We continued our study of the Israelites in Egypt. Moses and Aaron have gone to Pharoah and asked for the right to go worship God. God has begun to perform signs and wonders amongst the Egyptians.

History:
We moved forward a bit in history. Joshua and Jericho. We just stepped up to this lesson and did the read along. It’s a little out of sync with the study of the plagues in Bible but it will all tie together. We continued our lesson in the Genealogy of the Bible. Progressing into Abraham’s family.
Science:
The addition of the bird feeder outside our window has led us on a beautiful journey. See post from earlier in the week His Eye is on the Sparrow I hope that this continues through the rest of the year as we watch more and more of God’s beautiful creatures flit in and out of our lives. In addition little man has been using the internet as a research tool for his lessons. He looked up Biomes, Extinct Birds and Endangered Birds.
Algebra:
8²·(-3)⁵·5
Music:
Little Man is loving our music quest. Seems the orchestra brings joy to his heart. I love to see him listening to Beethoven, Bach and Haydn. He always wants to know more, whose song? When was it written? What does it mean? He finds beauty in the rhythms and often hums what he’s heard later throughout the day.
Art:
We have delved into Egyptian Art. This week he studied the Canopic Jars and drew one of his own.
Languages:
Little Man worked in lessons in Spanish, German and Latin this week. He found it interesting to learn that the Taxonomy of animals is from Latin roots. So that is helping him to see the reason why we tie in Latin with his other studies.
Social Time:
Sunday we went to my cousins house to spend time with some of my family. My aunt was in from back home in WV visiting her son, so all the local family went there for lunch. It was nice to spend time with family. As an added bonus they have a Blue and Gold Parakeet named Big Bird. Little Man and Big Bird were very entertaining to watch, as Big Bird began bobbing up and down, and when Little Man repeated the pattern the two of them kept bobbing. It was quite funny. But, Little man got an up close view of an exotic bird and even got to bring home some of it’s feathers. So our day with family helped to expand his science study. We spent Tuesday at a friend’s house while I helped her paint a room, Beloved and Little Man watched the little ones. Jonathan just loves going to their house.
Friday homeschool gym at the rec. center. and this is a Home school Support group week. He checked out by himself at Target when he wanted to purchase some hot-wheels cars with his birthday money. He also wanted a different kid’s meal toy at Wendy’s so he had to go up and give back the one they gave him and ask for another. These are just a few of the ways that I “socialize” my child.
Family Moment:
Family photo’s were taken by our friend Tara. We had a wonderful time playing in leaves and walking tails at a local park. She gave me a quick preview on facebook, I can’t wait until we get the rest of them. Tara O’Neal Photography
What I learned:
Personal Study: Sanctified.
1 Thessalonians 4:3-7
3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. 7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.
This verse came up in Wednesday night’s Bible study, since I am also doing a personal study on Sanctification with a group of ladies on facebook, I found this particularly appropriate for me to take a closer look at.
I see here:
1. God’s will is for Me to be sanctified,
2. Because I am a part of Christ’s body I am a part of his own vessel, therefore I need to know how to possess the part I serve within the body.
3. When done properly I do so in sanctification and honor.
4. Unlike the Gentiles (here referencing unbelievers who do not know God)
5. God will protect me and avenge all those who attempt to defraud my purpose within His body.
6. God calls me to be clean and holy.
For His purpose I am sanctified.
