This Week… Trying to Get on Track

Little Man was feeling better this week. I was still struggling with a cough for half the week. I worked on updating lesson plans so between his daddy and myself we were able to get a pretty decent amount of work accomplished this week. We focused mostly on core content.

Bible:  The Israelites are continuing their conquest of Canaan. Bible Study Guide is proving to be the best option as my previous review stated.   This week Little Man labelled a map of Canaan and studied how the Gibeonites tricked Israel and how Joshua made a deal with them.

Additionally I got an idea from my friend Sam at Sam’s Noggin. She has been using Journibles to write the scriptures. I remember writing scriptures at home when I was little some. So I grabbed a couple of Composition Notebooks and at the beginning of the year Little Man and I began our own writing of scripture. He’s writing Genesis and I am writing Isaiah. So far he has written 4 chapters and I have written 9. This allows your mind to process the word in a different way. It forces you to slow down so you are sure to get it write. Thus, you see things that you may have previously just read right over.

Math: We have had a very successful week of math. As I explained last week this year has become a review of elementary math allowing Little Man to attain mastery of skills. This week he worked on several goals and showed proficiency in so many of them. As he continues the program will add reviews of these skills until he shows mastery thus attaining a mastery badge.

Spelling: Continued on in the 5th grade Spelling book, lesson 26. Just 4 lessons to go.

History/Literature: We are continuing to read through Trojan Horse and The Iliad for Boys and Girls. Boys and battle. Little Man is

Science: This week Jonathan complete the vocabulary crossword and started a study project drawing each of the state birds.

Miscellaneous: Continuing work on Canon in D and his piano teacher added the Bridal March to his practice. We teased him and said he could now be a wedding player.
