The Kings and a Queen Timeline Review

There some great Bible based study helps I wanted to share with each of you. But I don’t just use these products for Bible study in my homeschool, they help Me in my personal study as well as in preparing for Bible classes. In addition they offer excellent reference points for a chronological study of history, which is how we study in our school room.

Me and My House Inc. offers several study aids of which I have 2. I have The Kings and a Queen Timeline with maps as well as Passages of the Prophets board game.

First, let me assure you the author and creator of these, Sherlan Perry, has done her research. They are scripturally based with accurate information. Don’t let the fun, colorful character graphics fool you, these products are filled with Bible facts that are important for any student of the Bible to learn and know regardless of age.

Often times Bible classes jump from the stories of the Exodus and entering into Canaan right into the New Testament with very little focus on the judges, kings and prophets. I think this is because it is sometimes difficult to teach the context of how they fit into the Bible timeline. That is why I am excited to tell you about The Kings and a Queen Timeline.

This is a tri-fold laminated timeline that opens up and shows where each of the kings of Israel and also Judah fall into the schematic of time. Sherlan has also included key information to help the student, whether child or adult, remember important information about each one. She has also included key information about the prophets who were prophesying to the kings during their reign, which I think is key to understanding how the prophetical books fit into historical chronology.

But, my favorite part of this timeline is on the back. It is a small sketch that shows the timeline from Creation to Reconciliation in Heaven. By having this quick reference you can quickly and easily identify the place in history these things occurred. In fact I have pinned this page up onto the wall of my classroom and use it often to show Little Man where different events fall in history. Having this ready, easy to use, reference has aided my ability to help pinpoint not only the chronology of the kings but also the chronology of the Egyptians, the Sumerians, Babylonians and much more. Since it is small in scale it doesn’t take up much space and yet I can quickly point out where any historical event falls, either in the patriarchal, mosaic/royal/prophetic or christian ages.

The second product, Passages of the Prophets is a board game that is designed to help the entire family, or bible class, to learn more about both the major and minor prophets of the Bible. All you do is progress onto squares on the board, in a style similar to other popular children’s games, draw a card and answer a question. Because the game reinforces learning of scripture in a format they are most likely familiar with, they are excited to play and get the answers right.

This is an excellent tool.

Sherlan has several other products as well. I hope to add the Sword of the Lord Playing Cards which detail the great battles of the Israelites, the Rescues of Canaan a hard back reader that details the judges including maps and the Teaching the Minor Prophets to children teachers aid to my line up of bible study aids, soon.

Note: This product review is completely my own opinion. I purchased the 2 products that I have reviewed and have used them solely for the purpose of enhancing my own and my son’s Bible study. I have not and will not be receiving any product, payment or other type of reward for my opinion of this product either by the publisher, author or other entity. I do not review products for profit but rather only to share with you, my reader, any product that I feel can aid you in your homeschooling or Bible study endeavors.
