One Word, Trust: Defining it.

This Week @ Great Peace Academy

Trust is one of those words that can be hard to define.

Dictionary.com defines it as: reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence.

Yep. That makes it totally understandable. Even as hard as it is to define it is even harder to have. Trust. Reliance on or faith in or confidence in someone other than yourself.

It requires a letting go. It demands letting go of your self, your hope, your desires, your comfort in exchange for… Ah, that’s the rub. That’s where the hard to define part comes in. What is one exchanging their self-reliance for? Is it the promise of love? Is it the promise of security? Is it the promise of gain? The answer to this undefined exchange is up to the one to whom you seek to trust.

I choose, because in order to trust, one must choose. I choose, to trust in the Lord, because His promise is that He has not forsaken those who seek Him. Do you see that promise. It isn’t a future-tense promise it is a past-tense promise. Meaning, He has already done it, for those who seek (future tense). His promise has already been made complete for anyone who seeks Him.

That’s why I choose. I choose to trust in Him. Because His promise has already be made complete.
