Peace…
For 2 days now the song, It is Well With My Soul, by Horatio Spafford has been playing in my mind. I find myself singing it throughout the day. It started shortly after hearing that a dear sister in the Lord is not doing well. She has end stage cancer and the family has been called together by the hospice staff.
This family is dear to my husband and I. Through the years they have shown great love to us. We are grateful that they are in our life. They have gone through the fire over the past 2 years, yet their faith in the Father is strong and true. I think that is why the song keeps playing in my head.
When my time comes to cross over to the land of Abraham’s Bosom, I hope that those who love me will surround me in song. I hope they sing It Is Well With My Soul, Great is Thy Faithfulness, There is a Name I Love to Hear, How Great Thou Art, Holy, Holy, Holy, and If We Never Meet Again. There are so many others, but the truth is I don’t think I will care which songs are sung as long as it is praise for the Father and thankfulness for salvation. That’s how I imagine I will want it.
I believe there is peace beyond understanding for those who are in Christ Jesus to cross over (Philippians 4:7). There is no fear in love, for perfect love casts out fear, (I John 4:18). The Father has shown Hsi great love for us in that He sent His only begotten Son to be a sacrifice for our sins (John 3:16 & Romans 5:8).
