This Week… Conferences & Calculus?

So this week… What can I say about this week. Ya’ll know I headed to Music City, aka Nashville, for the Teach Them Diligently Conference. I think the good Lord has blessed me with a tremendous friendship that started online, found out we were both members of the same body of Christians and our friendship turned to sisterhood in an instant. I’m honored to have been asked.

This Week, Little Man…
Literature:
Continued his reading in “The Little House on the Prairie” by Laura Ingalls Wilder. While technically this is a school assignment, I am letting him explore the classic, so that he will take away from it a love for the Prairie, like so many children before him. He has to be able to tell us what is happening in the book but I am not requiring book reports or worksheets related. When he is finished I may do a lap-book with him to expand his knowledge of the time. We have “Farmer Boy” and “The Long Winter” also, so I’m anticipating these to be his summer reads.
Khan Academy:

When we logged in this week I was not anticipating seeing, SUGGESTED: CALCULUS. I was stunned. I had no clue, I was stunned! I called Beloved down just to verify what I was seeing. I mean???? What was I supposed to do with that? I told him to skip it for now and focus on some of the other suggestions, like Fractions. Whew, I am not ready for Calculus. BTW, this mama never took Calculus. I don’t think I’m ready for my 9 year old to either.
Science:
Little Man completed some Notebooking work on Pterodactyls.
