This Week… Getting in the Groove

Our family pictures were made available to us this week. I thought I would share one here. A special thank you to Tara from Tara O’Neal Photography for a great shoot. This is the first school week where I feel like we successfully completed a full week of work. It’s just been difficult this fall to get into the regular routine. Our routine: 4 days of school work in the classroom, Monday through Thursday. Friday is for gym and alternate Friday’s include our support group Making Memories Homeschool Support Group. Sometimes we will do grocery shopping or chores after but no structured school unless we are really behind.Bible:  We reached the 9th…

    Five Minute Friday: His Voice

It’s 5-Minute Friday. I join in with an flash-mob of hundreds of writers who jump in and free-write for 5 minutes flat. Simply writing without worry, unedited, unscripted and pure free-writing. Today’s Topic: VoiceGo.Whose voice do you listen to? Do you listen to self? Do you listen to others? Do you listen to the voice of the world? Do you listen to the voice of the LORD? I want to listen to the Lord, I strive to listen to the Lord, His word is pure. His word is full of wisdom and honesty. There is only righteousness in His voice. Even when I long to draw near to His voice,…

    Birds, Birds, Birds

The birds have come to our feeder. I have always enjoyed bird watching. Now Little Man is developing a love for it as well.My dad, has several feeders at his house and I’m always amazed at the number of species who eat from them.  So far we have seen 4 species: The House Finch, both male and female; The House Sparrow, both male and female; The Black-Capped Chickadee; and the White-Breasted Nuthatch. We also have one little chipmunk, who has lived just outside our window for as long as we’ve been here. Every morning he would get walnuts from the walnut tree in our yard and eat them on our…

    Technology in the Classroom

We live in a technological world. It is a fact that we just simply cannot deny. This year we have begun teaching Little Man to use the internet. Prior to this we really saw no reason for him to delve into a world that was beyond his maturity level. I realize that the internet has many wonderful research tools, but before this year he has not needed them in order to learn at his skill level. I used it often to find needed resources but it wasn’t for him. Some time in the past year though, he discovered google search and you tube for finding things that he is interested in.…

This Week… Family Photo’s and Family Time

This was a good week in our little school room. I haven’t yet felt like I could say that this year. Not sure I can say we have hit our groove, but I’m starting to feel that we are beginning to make progress.  Bible: We continued our study of the Israelites in Egypt. Moses and Aaron have gone to Pharoah and asked for the right to go worship God. God has begun to perform signs and wonders amongst the Egyptians.  Little Man Hard at Work, Notice He doesn’t sit up straight? History: We moved forward a bit in history. Joshua and Jericho. We just stepped up to this lesson and…

Memory Work: Sharing In All Good Things

Acts 4:32-33 NKJV 32 “Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. 33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.” The believers in the earliest days of the church understood the unity of the Spirit and lived with the understanding that they were equal in the Lord’s sight.

This Week… Funerals, Field Trips, Fall & Fire

Fall has most definitely set in. I’m loving it.  When I started blogging it was out of a natural progression from writing Notes on Facebook  detailing our week in school. Once I entered the blogging world, I began to shift away from the weekly overview to a more daily journal of all things home. I’ve decided to go back to my original intent by adding a post on Saturday that details our week, both in school, home and life. This Week… Funeral: Hospitable Heart; Training Up: The week started with sorrow as we lovingly bid farewell to a dear sister in the Lord. Beloved led the singing portion at her memorial service.…

    Autumn Beauty

I love Autumn! It’s my favorite time of the year. I love the crisp cool air. I love the smell of fall. I love the beauty of blazing colors on the trees. This year in particular they seem to be bright, vibrant and deep in their color palette. I’m blessed to live in a state where we see the full spectrum of the seasons. I’ve lived in other states farther south and west that do not quite have fall, at least not the way we do here. View from my front porch! We had a field trip today, I’ll post pictures for that in a post later in the week.…
