    Algebraic Dyslexia

When I was in school I took algebra, twice. I have trouble with numbers. It’s like my brain freezes up when presented with a series of numbers that I must rationally calculate in some form or pattern. I find it quite ironic that my 9 year old has the entirely opposite approach to math. He loves it, and computes and calculates completely in his head and gets frustrated with having to show steps.  Fuzzy Like my Brain I think I have math dyslexia. I don’t know if that is actually a problem or just an excuse for my lack of math skills, but I know that math of any kinds…

    God’s Judgments

I have heard many worldly people especially in recent times speak out against God by claiming that a true loving God would never authorize the work of genocide as found in the Bible, specifically His commands…

Our goal for this month is to seek out shadows of the New Covenant in the book of Exodus. We want to see how the Old Covenant is a reflection of the New. For instance, in the Old Covenant God designated a very specific priesthood, from the tribe of Levi. Aaron and his sons were set apart to be the priests of…

    Five Minute Friday: Welcome Home

It’s 5 Minute Friday. I join up with Lisa-Jo at Tales from a Gypsy Mama for a Link Up. It’s like a flash mob for bloggers. I loved the creative writing in high school when Mrs. Senator encouraged us to free write. To just put thought on paper without worrying about the form and function of grammar. Don’t get me wrong… I love to go back and edit to get it right, but there is freedom in writing at will. Lisa Jo provides us that opportunity. She gives us a topic, we spend just 5 minutes writing on the subject without much editing or worry about getting it right.Today’s Topic:…

    Peace…

For 2 days now the song, It is Well With My Soul, by Horatio Spafford has been playing in my mind. I find myself singing it throughout the day. It started shortly after hearing that a dear sister in the Lord is not doing well. She has end stage cancer and the family has been called together by the hospice staff. This family is dear to my husband and I. Through the years they have shown great love to us. We are grateful that they are in our life. They have gone through the fire over the past 2 years, yet their faith in the Father is strong and true.…

    The Science of Flight

Having Beloved home during the day does have it’s advantages. I’m not super handy when it comes to building things. I find my patience wears a bit thin. So today Little Man needed to do a science experiment to study the aerodynamics of flight. That is soooo a boy thing. I figured since I’m not a boy and my Beloved is what could be better than to have Beloved and Little Man do this experiment together. Little Man discovered that a glider with long and narrow wings could fly farther than one with short and thick wings. Plus, the added bonus of Dad being Cool!

    Interesting Integers

So Little Man has begun to explore the world of Algebra. The first day, he was worried. He said it would be too hard for him. He said, other people told him that Algebra was hard. I said, “Well let’s give it a try and see what YOU think.” The first lesson was Integers. He was thrilled to learn that Integer just meant the value of a number based upon it’s distance from 0. He very happily set to identifying integers on a numberline and determining it’s Absolute Value. Thus a love for Algebra has settled into his little heart. Today he is happily dividing integers. He does this in his…
