Heading to Music City with A Stop Over in the Bluegrass State

So I spent the day Monday doing laundry. Washing, drying, folding and putting away. It’s done. Except for what we have worn today the laundry is complete. Yesterday I was supposed to be focused on packing and straightening up the house, but I just couldn’t seem to get into gear. I’m so stinking excited about the trip to the Teach Them Diligently Conference in Nashville that I wanted to just peruse the website, check out the conferences, one more time, to see if I might have missed something. Read up a bit on the vendors to see who I might want to visit.

But I really do need to focus…
I will be away from home for 5 nights and 6 days. I’m leaving today, Wednesday afternoon, and going to my friend Sam’s house in Kentucky. I am so looking forward to meeting her family and fellowship in Bible Study with the saints where her husband preaches. Early Thursday we will drive on into Nashville. Conference starts at 5 and it’s being kicked off with Ken Ham! Awesome! Followed by Heidi St. John, again Awesome! Then, I think we are going to spend a little time getting familiar with the convention center before heading out to dinner and our hotel. Which looks pretty swanky! Friday will be Conference all day! Saturday most likely will be about 1/2 a day at conference then heading back to Kentucky where I will leave Sam at her home while I travel on to West Virginia to visit with my parents until Monday. So it is sure going to be a busy week end. But I am very very very much looking forward to it. (Did I say very enough there?)

So what I’m packing.

In the suitcase:

  • Clothes for 5 days
  • Toiletries & Make-up (I’m pretty low maintainance so not much).
  • Hair Straightener
  • My current read.
  • Laptop.
  • Flip flops, (because I might like to switch to them instead of my Skechers.)

In my conference bag:

  • Bible (Because it contains the word of Life and sword of the spirit)
  • Small Purse & Wallet, with cell (I like being able to put the purse in the conference bag instead of carrying 2 things, then I can easily grab it out when going into a restaurant)
  • Journal (for taking notes) & Several Ink Pens (I personally like a blue ball point)
  •  Conference schedule, highlighted, hole-punched and in a binder.

  • Business Cards
  •  Gum. Water bottles & snacks (Emerald Nut Packs and Cascadian Farms Peanut Butter Granola Bars)

Need to be sure to wear:

  • Watch
  • Comfy shoes (Skechers)
  • Glasses (Because I can’t see otherwise)
  • Comfy driving clothes

Be sure to print:

  • Directions to Sam’s place (in case I lose cell service in the hills)
  • Conference Schedule.
  • Vendor List

Be sure to put in the car:

  • Worship & Praise CD’s, Audio Cd’s from last year’s PTP conference and Great Homeschool Conventions (Because I never have time to listen to them)
  • Water Bottles,
  • Bags (Be embarrassed if I forget my bags).
  • Favorite Travel Coffee Mug. Seattle’s Best Coffee (Because it’s my favorite and my friend Sam doesn’t drink coffee.)
Remember to:
  • Clean out Car, vacuum and clean inside and get a carwash.
  • Take great photo’s to share
  • Take notes
  • Find and buy Debra Bell’s Ultimate Homeschool Planner for 2013-2014
  • Meet & Greet (I’m so excited)
  • Look for Writing Curriculum
