This Week… Joyful Accomplishments
This has been a pretty good week. J made some huge strides academically and personally. As previously posted he has developed the desire to, Write. He also took some initiative yesterday and wrote his own to-do list for the school day. With only a couple minor tweaks on my part, he accomplished the whole list. He finished reading his 3rd chapter book of the year, “The Trumpet of the Swan” by e.b. white. He has now read all 3 of White’s children’s books. He finished unit 2 of 6th grade math, fractions. I never thought I’d be able to get him through fractions because math is my weakest subject but it is his greatest so he just kept moving forward and so quickly has taught his momma the finer points of fractions. 🙂 By the end of the unit he had stopped showing his work. I asked, “How did you do this problem?”
He replied very matter of factly, “I just knew it in my head. ” 🙂
For me personally, I have been busy being a “keeper.” Since discovering the joy of keeping to honor my savior, I have found it much more pleasant. Whenever I would begin to think…”But, I don’t wanna…” Yes that is a whiny voice in my head 😉 I would just remember that I was serving my family by serving my Lord and then I would set to the task with a joyful heart. I’m not saying I’ve mastered this, but for this week, it has been a joy. It did help too that my dear friend C.C. is coming on Saturday to spend the night. So as I was keeping I had an extra eye out for tidying up for her visit. So looking forward to some time with her!
I have discovered a new way to prepare cabbage, roasting it. I loved it! This will come as quite the shock to my mother since growing up I didn’t care for cabbage at all. As an adult I’ve learned to eat cabbage rolls, but other than that, nothing. Thanks to www.pinterest.com for the roasted cabbage idea. Just slice, drizzle with olive oil, dash of salt and pepper, roast. So good.
J came to my lap last night to cuddle. I knew immediately he wasn’t feeling good. He has a mild fever and the sniffles. No swim class or gym class today. It will just be a quiet day at home.
Happy keeping friends….
