    Satan is a Liar

Devotional Thought The evangelists where we worship have been doing a sermon series on Satan. It has been quite interesting. The thing that has most amazed me though is how very closely Little Man has been listening. He has been taking notes, excitedly finding scriptures and even wanting to comment to me about the sermon while the sermon is being given. We have had to tell him, to write down his thoughts and share them with us later.  Sunday night he leaned over to me and said, “Is Satan evil?”  “Yes.” I replied. “How long will he be evil?” he asked. “Forever.” I said. “I wish there would be a…

    The Fruit of the Spirit

Saying Goodbye to a Bible Class Teacher This week we said goodbye to a dear lady from our congregation. She has passed on into Paradise to await the return of our Lord. She was a strong woman who fought her cancer courageously until the end, without fear of death, but rather showing love for her family and friends during that time. I was heartened to see how deeply my son felt over this loss. He just simply could not understand why going to Paradise is a good thing when he will miss her so much. He said, “I miss her hugs.” He cried gently, not wanting others to see his…

    The LORD’s Day

The Importance of the First Day of the Week, The Lord’s Day It’s after midnight as I reflect upon the day just past. It’s Monday now, the 2nd day of the week. When dawn arrives it will be another day of school and housework, possibly groceries.    The day that is just ended was the first day of the week. The Lord’s Day. On this day in history, God created… He said, “Let there be light, and there was light.” Genesis 1:3. That’s it, He just said it and it happened. What an amazing thought… that was the first day of all, the first Sunday. It was truly the LORD’s Day because…

    Little Hands

A Mother’s View from the Feet of the Cross I sat in worship on Sunday and during the time of communion, which my beloved happened to be leading, I found myself holding my son’s little hands. He’s not so little anymore I noticed. He’s 8 1/2 and quite tall for his age. He has long fingers, slender. I noticed this on Sunday because over the course of his life I have quietly measured his growth by how his hand fits in mine.  As I sat holding his hand and listening to my beloved reading from Luke 23 about the crucifixion of my Lord, my mind went to Mary His mother at…
