This Week… Family Photo’s and Family Time
This was a good week in our little school room. I haven’t yet felt like I could say that this year. Not sure I can say we have hit our groove, but I’m starting to feel that we are beginning to make progress. Bible: We continued our study of the Israelites in Egypt. Moses and Aaron have gone to Pharoah and asked for the right to go worship God. God has begun to perform signs and wonders amongst the Egyptians. Little Man Hard at Work, Notice He doesn’t sit up straight? History: We moved forward a bit in history. Joshua and Jericho. We just stepped up to this lesson and…

His Eye is on the Sparrow
This year Little Man is studying the Zoology of Flying Creatures. We have placed a bird feeder outside our classroom window so that he can get a chance to watch some of God’s beautiful Aviaries up close. It took several days before little flitting creatures were attracted to the feeder, but over the past couple of days we’ve seen a few little sparrows show up for a meal.Today, as he was working on his science lesson about endangered and extinct animals we saw a little sparrow perch on the edge of the feeder and begin eating. He quickly got a piece of paper and started sketching. He is quite excited…

Marriage Moment: 56 Years
This week my parents will celebrate their 56th year of marriage. Isn’t this one of those amazing photo’s. Like you’d see on a retro greeting card or something. This is them, the week after their wedding day. Unfortunately they didn’t have photo’s taken the day they got married. They, along with my mammaw went to the preacher’s house and got married. A week later dad’s family had a wedding shower for them, they wore the same clothing they did on their wedding day and that’s how we have this amazing shot. 56 years ago, they were young and in love. Their love has grown, deepened, changed. They have faced beautiful…

The Fruit of the Spirit
Saying Goodbye to a Bible Class Teacher This week we said goodbye to a dear lady from our congregation. She has passed on into Paradise to await the return of our Lord. She was a strong woman who fought her cancer courageously until the end, without fear of death, but rather showing love for her family and friends during that time. I was heartened to see how deeply my son felt over this loss. He just simply could not understand why going to Paradise is a good thing when he will miss her so much. He said, “I miss her hugs.” He cried gently, not wanting others to see his…

Marriage Moment: Surprise
I love my dear Beloved man. Sometimes when I least expect it he surprises me in a way that just thrills me to my toes. This time I was not in any way thinking we would be where we currently are. We are sitting in a cottage in the beautiful Hocking Hills. We have come to our favorite getaway place The Inn at Cedar Falls. It’s surprising mostly because of his current work situation, I wasn’t expecting it even though tomorrow I turn the Big 4 0. Yes that’s right folks. I’m 40 years of age. I don’t mind turning 40, but a melancholy seems to have settled in over…

Five Minute Friday: Grasp on Reality
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve engaged in a Five Minute Writing, I connect with Lisa-Jo Baker where a group of bloggers spend Friday’s with a 5-Minute Write. Lisa-Jo supplies the topic we provide the free form writing. No real editing, no real in depth thought, just the freedom to write for 5 flat minutes. Today’s Topic: GraspGo.This week my father-in-law has been in the hospital. On Sunday he began exhibiting confused behavior. The doctor’s thought perhaps a stroke, but the MRI and catscan did not reveal that to be true. Monday and Tuesday he continued to exhibit strange and erratic behavior. He did not seem to have a true…

Happy Birthday Little Man
I am foregoing my Marriage Moment this week to instead wish my Little Man a very happy 9th year. I can’t believe he has grown so quickly. I can’t believe he is so tall. Someone told me the other day that he was nearly as tall as me. I can’t believe how much he eats and is still hungry after a full meal. I can’t believe he’s 9. I can’t believe how much joy he brings to my life every single day. I can’t believe how much I am blessed by being his mom. Happy Birthday J.
