    Where was God?

For the past week I have watched as our nation has taken up armor against God and for God. I see discussion about weapons, this law and that law, abortion and outrage. I see posts about God not being allowed in schools and therefore that was why He didn’t stop what was done. I read, sadly, a posting by a dear mother in the trenches daily with a mentally ill child, pleading for us to take notice of the fact that mental illness is ignored and then these events occur. She is right. Personally, I know of some who also deal with mental illness with family members and try as…

    Erratic Schooling

Life is school and school is life. I keep telling myself this. Yet, I continually feel that ‘oh no, my child isn’t in the classroom working 6 hours a day kind of feeling. Yes, I was educated in the public school mentality, howbeit a very small and tiny school that afforded students the opportunity to learn and not just pass a test. It seems that so many people think that we as homeschoolers sit at home all day and our children just do some worksheets and then play the rest of the day. For Little Man, play time is almost always learning time. His mind just doesn’t shut off when…

    Stop

Sometimes I just want to stop. Stop. I love doing unto others. I love seeing joy on faces. I love the planning, prep and effort that goes in to serving. It brings joy to my heart. Sometimes, my heart becomes overwhelmed though. Sometimes, my heart is poured out completely and when I look around I begin to feel that my efforts are in vain, for no one seems to notice that my heart is empty. I’ve been having a difficult few weeks. There has been a lot of emotional things going on in my heart, things that I can’t explain or control. Situations that are going on surrounding my life that…

Last Day of Giving Thanks & Five Mintue Friday: Wonder

It’s November 30th. This is the last day of the 30 Days to Give Thanks Link-up. It has been a journey of exploration for me. I’m so glad that I did this.  Today: I am thankful for the breath of Life. Have you ever stopped and considered your breath? For just a moment, take a very deep breath, hold it and then slowly let it out. Your life is in that breath. Without the ability to breathe you have no life. I have complete faith that it is only by the will of God that I have breath. He sustains it, He breathes it into us. He creates and sustains the…

    Giving Thanks Days 28-29

Day 28 Today I am thankful for the family which the Lord has brought together in a perfect union. I don’t always understand the reasons He does things the way that He does them, but I know that my little family is beautiful. We work pretty good as a team. We get along really well. My Beloved and I are thrilled to be parents even when parenting is really hard. I am so very thankful that God chose us to be parents to this prefect Little Man.Psalm 78:4We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His…

    Happy Thanksgiving Day

Today I am thankful for God. I am thankful for the blessings He so graciously gives to my family, my friends and this country everyday. We should humbly offer prayers of thanksgiving to Him not only on this day but on each day that He grants us the breath of life.  1 Timothy 4:4-5 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. Most gracious Lord I thank you for you are wonderful, righteous and holy in all of your ways. I praise you for your goodness and your loving kindness. I am…

    Project Feeder Watch

If you are a regular reader you already know that we are studying Birds this year. We are studying in Apologia’s Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day. Through some of the extra links that the publisher provides for students via their website. I discovered, The Cornell University Lab of Ornithology’s Project Feeder Watch program. This is a program where regular people, like you and I watch and count the different species of birds that hang out at our feeder through the winter.I registered and for a small fee, I was sent some basic materials which arrived today. I’m very much looking forward to doing this with Little Man. Our feeder…
