10 Classic Games for Family Night You Probably Forgot About

Games are fun. Spending time with family playing games is fun. Too often we get caught up in new and flashy games. But, classic games can be just as fun. This post contains affiliate ad links to 3rd party sites where products purchased may result in paid compensation for this blogger. Which is why I wanted to pull together a list of old fashioned games that you probably forgot about.  Of course one of the all time favorite classics is Monopoly. But it’s not one that most people forget about so I didn’t include it in the following list. My very favorite classic board game is The Stock Market game. Are…

I’m the Kind of Mom Who…

I’m the kind of mom who gives my son the last bite of my cupcake because he was looking longingly at it. This post contains affiliate links to products which may be purchased at external sites. I’m the kind of mom who stops what I’m doing to listen intently as he tells me about his next great idea, or Minecraft build, or plan of whatever sort it might be, because he is more important to me than whatever that thing was I was previously doing.  I’m the kind of mom who measures my son’s growth by how his hand fits in mind and realize there will come a day when…

How to Pray for Your Future Daughter-in-Law

I’m a boy mom. One day, he’ll be a man and hopefully, find a wife of his own and begin his own family. I want to have a great relationship with my future daughter-in-law. Not as an overbearing mother-in-law who doesn’t know her place, or as her bestie, nor as a replacement of her own mom. But, I do want to have a relationship with her that allows us to communicate, share in family life in a compatible way, and trust each other as sisters in the Lord.  “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22 NKJV That’s why a long time ago, shortly after…

Scripture is clear that we are to be hospitable, especially within the church. Yet, do we have a skewed view of what hospitality is? Has it become more about self-righteousness than it is about hospitable hearts? Do we seek to exalt ourselves in the eyes of the one to whom we are being hospitable, or do we seek to honor them above ourselves? Let’s examine scriptural hospitality. This will be a 4 part series. What is Hospitality? A Christian’s Responsibility in Hospitality, Heart Matters…

How the Challenge of Love is Grief

When Life Leads to Heartbreak The past 6 months, beginning on January 26th, life has been busy for me. Remember when I told you about how life has taken on a new normal?  Following that blog post, my father continued to recover from the struggles of that illness and the major surgery that he experienced. He was in the hospital, well 4 different hospitals, for a total of 91 days, including in hospital med-rehab. He was finally able to go home with the assistance of home health and the help of his four children.  My siblings and I set up a rotating schedule that allowed one of us to be…

    It’s Church Camp Week

Fun Filled Week at Church Camp This week Young Man and I are spending the week at church camp. It is a week filled with Bible class, worship, devotionals, fun activities, zip lines, rope climbs, hikes, capture the flag, and many fun-filled days filled with laughter.  I serve as a Bible class teacher for the 7-9 year olds. This will be Young Man’s first year going to a different Bible class, and his first year to stay in a boy cabin without his dad. Beloved isn’t able to go this year. So it’s just me and the boy and all the other staff and campers.  I’m sharing pictures of last…
