    This Week…Diligence Pays Off

Working with New Online Planner This has been an interesting week. We were able to complete the entire week in just 3 days which rarely happens at our academy. Little Man worked very diligently while we worked. He completed his assignments in a very timely manner. I want to share with you information about some new affiliate products that I am trying. I am giving a new online digital planner a try, Applecore Homeschooling Systems. I have always been a paper planner, without much success. This product however is keeping both me and Little Man on task. I’ll be sharing a complete review once I’ve had a chance to fully…

This Week… New Online Math Started

Feeling Bad while Prepping for Seminar I haven’t felt very good this week. There is a nasty bug going around our area. I think it hit me sometime on Monday into Tuesday. I woke up with a sore throat. I held it off through Thursday when I had to give a seminar, but yesterday it hit hard and I have a headache and a half! This week… Bible: Little Man finished up his lessons on the Judges. What a roller coaster of events. Next week he moves to the book of Ruth. I love the book of Ruth and can’t wait to see it through my sons eyes. Math: We…

Typical Homeschool Day at Great Peace Academy

A Day in our Homeschool Life I hope you find my ideas and suggestions for homeschooling to be of use and value to you. Below are products that I use in my homeschool and recommend because I like them so much. I am sharing affiliate links for your convenience. If you feel these products would be of benefit to you, you can purchase them at external sites.  We are not the wake up at 6:00 a.m. with breakfast on the table and Bible Study complete by 8:00 kind of family. We generally sleep late and stay up late. Perhaps that is why I homeschool. So I don’t have to rush out…

This Week… Purposing to do Science & Math

Exploring Student’s Passions Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. This Week… I ditched language arts, music, history, literature, art and more. I turned our school focus on just science and math. My son excels in these areas and sometimes it’s good to let our children explore their passions. Bible: We continued in our study of Samson and he learned that for every action there are consequences. The consequences of Samson marrying the wrong women, led to his destruction. HIs hair was cut, his eyes were plucked out, he was held prisoner. Eventually in destroying his enemies, he destroyed himself. Such a good lesson for a boy to learn. Science: Since…

Not Back to School Curriculum Hop

iHN Not Back to School Blog Hop It’s that time of year again. The time for the biggest homeschool blog link up of each year. It’s the Not Back to School Blog Hop at iHomeschool Network. Starting today and then each week for the month of August the iHomeschool Team is hosting the link up. The first week is the Curriculum Hop.  My philosophy is changing slightly this year but it’s mostly a moralistic decision rather than an actual change in function within the school. We are going to be a Bible based academy. This philosophy will mean that Bible comes first in all areas of learning. Instead of incorporating Bible…
