Welcome Spring!
Art & Nature Study Homeschool GiveawayIt happens every year. Winter seems long, dark and cumbersome and then spring arrives and signs of life begin to emerge once again. The sun brightens our days and our hearts and we feel a little lighter. I’m always amazed when I see plants peeking through the ground that just a couple of days before was hard and icy, but it happens every year. This post contains affiliate links for homeschooling during the spring season. You can read more about affiliate links by visiting my disclosure page. Thank you for being a loyal follower of Great Peace Academy. Today marks the first day of spring for…

Exploring the Cleveland Aquarium
An Ohio Homeschool Field Trip At the end of this post you will find a link to where you can purchase my book Ohio-Homeschooling. It contains many resources for field trips and other ideas for homeschooling in Ohio. This past week our little family was in Cleveland Ohio. My Beloved husband was working a freelance television production job as an audio engineer for the MAC Conference Basketball Tournament at the Q Arena. Since he was going to be in Cleveland for the week anyway we decided that Little Man and I would tag along and spend the week field tripping through the city. We managed to take four field trips…

Pin It With Me: Favorite 5 Pinterest Boards
My 5 Favorite Pinterest Boards I’ve been a fan of Pinterest for about 3 years now. My friend Chere’ told me about it a homeschool mom’s night out. I went home and looked it up and I’ve been pinning ever since. If you are homeschooling a gifted learner, be sure to see my post about Pinterest Boards to Follow for Gifted Learners. An Eclectic Line-up of Pinterest Boards I have some pretty eclectic boards, maybe that reflects the fact that I’m an eclectic homeschooler and blogger, or perhaps, that I’m a bit eclectic in life. I have boards for homeschool, marriage, family, meal planning and more. Today I’m sharing with…

Dr. Ben Carson a Real Life Gifted Example
A Man Who is Living His Gift Gifted learning does not always equal real life living. As a mom to a child with gifted and talented abilities, I am cautiously optimistic about his future. When you read stories of those who have or are living with such abilities you often hear that when they reach adulthood, many seem to struggle to find their way in society. This is often due to emotional intensity and/or asynchronous behavior. So as a mom I wonder at my child’s advanced abilities, and worry about helping him to become an active member of society. It isn’t often that you hear amazing stories, where someone with…

Ready for Spring?
Great Ideas for Nature Walks Aren’t you ready for spring? I know I am. I like the seasons. I really do. I like for each of the seasons to reflect their name. But, with the record snow fall this particular season coupled with our limited mobility due to a car needing repair and my Beloved travelling for work these days, I am ready for spring. I can’t wait to see the daffodils pop their heads above the permafrost and the tulips burst forth in an array of color. I’d like to plant a garden this year, but each year I say that and each year I fail to get it…

This Week… A Light Week
A Much Needed Winter Break Disclosure: This homeschooling post contains affiliate links which I feel could be beneficial to you in your homeschooling journey. This week at Great Peace Academy we did very little in the schooling realm. My Beloved has been travelling, a lot, for the freelance work he has been doing. After a while, I start to feel a bit blue and in all honesty that is exactly where I’ve been this week as well as most of last week. I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks when we are together as a family more. Since the school year began we really haven’t taken a lot of…

This Week… A Mixed Bag
Eclectic Homeschooling at it’s Best This week at Great Peace Academy we have had some of the craziest weather I’ve seen in one single week. On Sunday morning we had 12 inches of snow on the ground. While we were in worship it began snowing again and throughout the day we god another 1/2 inch of snow. On Monday we had an ice storm in the evening with about a 1/2 inch of ice falling. Tuesday it warmed up with sunny skies and 40 degrees and the snow began to melt. By Wednesday most of the snow was melted and then we had random, very random, lightening and thunder. Thursday…

This Week…Olympic Science Friction
Olympic Week #2 This post contains affiliate links which I think go perfectly with an Olympic Unit Study. Thank you for supporting Great Peace Academy. Oh snow. Just when I thought we were done, Ohio having missed out on the winter snow that laid snow in abundance across the south, we have received an additional 3 inches so far since last night. Our snow from the previous week has yet to melt off so we are sitting with about 14 inches as of now. Beloved travelled to Indiana yesterday and it was treacherous, he was in stop and go traffic for quite a while. School-wise, I’ve continued the Olympic unit study.…
