I know so many children love LEGO Bricks! This simple toy can serve as a learning aid for many different subjects making them an ideal learning device for any homeschool. Since children are creating with their hands their minds imagine a story to go along with the build. That’s why they can be inspirational as a natural, hands-on, LEGO Brick creative writing story prompt.
I know my son and his friends can spend hours playing with them whenever they get together no matter the age. He also enjoys playing with them by himself.
Have you ever watched how creative a child can be when given a handful of these simple, yet complex toys?

Learning with LEGO Brick Creative Writing Prompts
That’s why I’ve created these LEGO Writing Prompts. These prompts will allow your students to utilize actual builds that your kids have done. As a child builds with LEGO bricks, their imagination soars. You can harness that imagination into creative writing.
Here’s how it works. Print the MY LEGO Story writing prompts. Then photograph your child’s LEGO creation. Print the photograph and adhere to the provided space on the writing prompt.
From there direct the child to write the story of their build.
If your child is a pre-writer then have them tell you the story and you write it down for them.
It’s really easy. Show them the writing prompt with photograph and ask them, “What were you thinking when you built this?” Let them re-tell you the story they were imagining in their own words. You’ll be amazed at their creativity.
Help them to brainstorm story ideas, write them out so the child can see them, then encourage them to write a story about what they are seeing, imagining and before you know it, they’ve written a story.
Creative Writing isn’t about grammar, spelling or even sentence structure. Creative writing is about harnessing creativity in written or spoken form.
You can always teach the grammar, editing, and spelling skills during other language arts classes. But, for this and other creative writing projects it’s best to simply encourage creativity and imagination.
As your child’s imagination flows they may need to build and add on to their creation. That’s half the fun of a LEGO story. If you need additional sheets, simply print them.
