How to Pray for Your Future Daughter-in-Law
I’m a boy mom. One day, he’ll be a man and hopefully, find a wife of his own and begin his own family. I want to have a great relationship with my future daughter-in-law. Not as an overbearing mother-in-law who doesn’t know her place, or as her bestie, nor as a replacement of her own mom. But, I do want to have a relationship with her that allows us to communicate, share in family life in a compatible way, and trust each other as sisters in the Lord. “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22 NKJV That’s why a long time ago, shortly after…

How to actually Homeschool Multiple Ages with Expert Advice
I’m a homeschooling mom to one child. That’s because we are an only child family. If we had more children I’d be homeschooling them too. But, I know that most of you reading this are multiple child families and you have questions about how to successfully homeschool multiple ages and do it successfully. I get it. Given to Hospitality
A Scriptural Study of Hospitality “Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.” 1 Peter 4:9. For the next few weeks I want to focus on to hospitality. Scripture is clear that we are to be hospitable, especially within the church. Yet, do we have a skewed view of what hospitality is? Has it become more about self-righteousness than it is about hospitable hearts? Do we seek to exalt ourselves in the eyes of the one to whom we are being hospitable, or do we seek to honor them above ourselves? Let’s examine scriptural hospitality. This will be a 4 part series. What is Hospitality? A Christian’s Responsibility in Hospitality, Heart Matters…

How the Challenge of Love is Grief
When Life Leads to Heartbreak The past 6 months, beginning on January 26th, life has been busy for me. Remember when I told you about how life has taken on a new normal? Following that blog post, my father continued to recover from the struggles of that illness and the major surgery that he experienced. He was in the hospital, well 4 different hospitals, for a total of 91 days, including in hospital med-rehab. He was finally able to go home with the assistance of home health and the help of his four children. My siblings and I set up a rotating schedule that allowed one of us to be…

Train Up Hearts for the Lord
Mothers hold a special place in the lives of their children. As mamas we are uniquely blessed with qualities of gentleness, love, and tender hearts. This is especially true when we are endeavoring to teach them from God’s word. It’s important for parents to hold God’s word in high regard in front of their children. We are to “…train them up in the nurture and admonition of the word.” Ephesians 6:1. We see that godly instruction throughout scripture, from Deuteronomy chapters 4, 6 and 11 to the Psalms and Proverbs and into the New Testament. Because we as mothers are equipped with gentle hearts we can reach down to teach out children…

When Life Leads to Tears
I haven’t written here about all that’s going on with my life right now. There are many reasons why I haven’t written, yet there were many times I wanted to open my heart and share with you. If you haven’t noticed I haven’t been online much lately. Some posts have gone out which were pre-scheduled. Some were works in progress that I hastily finished up to keep the blog looking fresh. And many of my social media posts were pre-scheduled as well. But, personally, I’ve been away. I’ve been away for about 8 weeks, away from blogging, away from homeschooling, away from home, away from my normal life. That’s because I’m living…

Kings of Israel a Biblical Board Game
I love a good board game. When I was a kid, we sat around the table playing all kinds of games. It didn’t matter if it was a board game or card game. In fact, it didn’t matter if it was a real game or one we made up. One game we liked to play was Who Am I? a Bible game where daddy would ask us a series of questions about a person in the Bible and each question would be a bit easier than the last. Of course, we (my siblings and I) wanted to get the answer right on the first try. But we rarely was able to do…

My Imperfectly Messy Homeschool Room
Caution! Learning Happens Here Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links to products which may be purchased from external sites. I have visions of a perfect homeschool room in my dreams. A lovely space to work and learn and grow. I have visions of an organized space with exactly everything we need for homeschooling success. I dream of perfection. I’ve shared images with you of our space and how it’s the perfect space for a homeschooling family. It is. But, the reality is our perfect space is an imperfectly messy homeschool room more often than it is clean and organized. In seven years of homeschooling I we have collected a…
