    This Week… Another Crazy Adventure

Traveling Here, There and Yonder I’m late with this week’s post. It’s another crazy, unexpected travel weekend. On Wednesday my Beloved got 2 unexpected phone calls. The first was for a freelance job in Cincinnati, on Friday afternoon. Being that Cincy is  just a couple of hours drive and he said, yes. He thought it was a simple pre-game sports show and he’d be finished in just a few hours.  Later in the day he received a call from a guy representing the MSN (Moutaineer Sport’s Network) to see if he could do audio for the WVU spring game, on Saturday. WVU, for those who aren’t aware, is in Morgantown…

    This Week-Piano Lessons Return

Settling in to 2014 With snow being so prevalent this year many of our activities have been cancelled or postponed. This week Piano lessons started again, gym lessons started, and our LEGO club started back up. But even with all of the outside activities we still managed to get a full week of school completed.  Bible: In Bible Little Man learned the importance of obedience to God. He learned about King Saul and how Saul made decisions that were of his own choosing even though he claimed they were what God commanded. In the end there were consequences for Saul. I pointed used the lesson to explain that even today…

    This Week… New Year Games

Winter Learning This week Great Peace Academy is shrouded in snow. It is a beautiful site to behold, but with the snow came cold, bitter cold, temperatures. Today I woke up to 2 degrees. Little Man hasn’t even asked to go out and play which is surprising. He’s not one to play outside much, but he usually asks for at least one venture out. We celebrated New Years with a quiet family night. Jonathan and I played chess and backgammon. He is getting better at chess and I had to really think this time round. I guess those chess club instructions from Coach Kyle are proving fruitful. Can I just…

Training My Child in the Spirit

As a Christian, one who fervently believes in the sovereignty of the power and omniscience of God in Heaven, how could I do anything but teach my son spiritual things? To do otherwise would be hypocritical and deny the power of God. “Train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6 But how can one know which way to train up that child?” “And you, fathers, do now provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” – Ephesians 6:4 There it is. The only resource…

New Homeschool Laws Proposed for Ohio

Lift Our Voices as One and Let Freedom Ring LOUD! I was stunned yesterday when this story showed up in my news feed. Worst-Ever Homeschool Law Proposed in Ohio. It’s an article from HSLDA so I knew I could trust the source. Ohio is generally considered to have moderate laws by which to homeschool. Those outside the state when seeing or hearing the requirements often think they are stringent. Yet, some of our senators are proposing change, major change! The reason for this proposed law? About a year ago, very tragically, a young man died at the hands of an abusive adult. The tragedy of that event is sorrowful to…

    This Week…Winter & Rest

Illness in the Homeschool Over last weekend we like many of you received about 4 inches of snow, most of which is still on the ground. This week Little Man went to homeschool gym on Monday. By Tuesday morning he had a fever, vomiting and cough. So this has been a very quiet week in our home. Rest was the order of the week. As you can see I’ve been working on a blog redesign with hopefully more to come. What do you think so far? How about you? What was your homeschool week like? An InLinkz Link-up
