Customizing Language Arts
How I Teach English in Homeschool Somewhere between when I graduated high school and started teaching homeschool (yes, I do realize that is a long time) they went from calling “English” to “Language Arts.” The reality is our goal is to teach our children the proper usage of the English language. That is the approach I take. It’s all about English. Below I’ll be sharing some links to affiliate products which I use in my own homeschool and recommend for your consideration. I choose to customize our Language Arts. That simply means I do not follow any predetermined format for teaching these skills. I’ve done this since I first began homeschooling.…

Revealing How I Teach Homeschool
Part of the iHN Winter Hopscotch Have you ever wondered what school looks like in another persons home? We all have different families with different teaching methods and learning styles. We all have different philosophies when it comes to education and our approaches all look quite different. What works for one, may not work for someone else. I’m a mom with a boy who is an advanced learner, who happens to also be an only child. So how I teach will look different than how you or another will teach. Mom’s with multiple children obviously have much more to juggle than we mom’s of one. Keep in mind that mom’s…

This Week: Staying at Home
Staying at Home through Cold and Colds Beloved is travelling a lot now with his freelance work while Little Man and I are staying at home. With the arctic front that moved in over the past week we were inside for most of the week venturing out only for Wednesday night Bible Study. On top of all of that, I have had an ear infection followed by congestion and cough, then Little Man started coughing too. I’ve been feeling like every time we leave our home one or both of us get sick so now I’m thinking we need to just stay in through the rest of winter. If only…

This Week… New Year Games
Winter Learning This week Great Peace Academy is shrouded in snow. It is a beautiful site to behold, but with the snow came cold, bitter cold, temperatures. Today I woke up to 2 degrees. Little Man hasn’t even asked to go out and play which is surprising. He’s not one to play outside much, but he usually asks for at least one venture out. We celebrated New Years with a quiet family night. Jonathan and I played chess and backgammon. He is getting better at chess and I had to really think this time round. I guess those chess club instructions from Coach Kyle are proving fruitful. Can I just…

A Sneak Peek at Ohio Homeschooling
A Look Inside When I started writing Ohio Homeschooling it was going to be just a chapter. Then I came to realize the vast opportunities that exist in this state and thought back to when I began homeschooling. I thought about how I was concerned, worried, unsure and even fearful because I didn’t really know what I was doing. That is when I realized the need for a resource which would give pertinent details to both the new homeschooling family as well as those who have been homeschooling for years. This book has been authored published and distributed by myself. I am linking to an external site where this book…
