I’m also sharing some affiliate links below where you can purchase this and other video games. I recently shared with you that we are incorporating more discovery directed learning into our academy. One of the ways I am doing that is through video game design. Stop in at The Homeschool Post to read: Creativity with Video Games. You can see some of the ways that Little Man is exploring video game design on my YouTube channel. Do you allow video games in your homeschool? What are…

A Guide for Teaching Bible Study Bible Study Guide for All Ages has become a wonderful resource in our homeschool. That is why I am sharing my unsolicited review with you, and why I’m sharing affiliate links to places where you can purchase them in addition to links to the publishers website. While it is true that product can be used in the Bible School class, it is very easy to adapt this material for use in the homeschool. We began using it last year. This Week… Fall Break
A Little Homeschool Breathing Time As we finish up the month of October, I decided to take a week off. We have been working pretty diligently for 8 weeks, so it was time for the family to breath a little. I think it’s important to teach our kids to read for fun, not just for school. So I encouraged Little Man to start reading, The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder. He spent a good deal of time drawing, playing video games, playing with Lego bricks and watching you-tube Hot wheels videos. I was able to release my first eBook. You can find that on this post: 10 Days of…

Homeschool Co-op with LEGO Bricks
Finding Online LEGO® Resources This past spring our Making Memories Homeschool Support Group ended the academic year with our final quarter based upon LEGO Learning, which I taught with my friend Jen. I’m sharing with you our best online resources for pulling together the class as well as affiliate links where you can pull together great products. I think the kids had a great time, they learned a lot and I, as the teacher, am amazed at how many topics can be taught from the simple LEGO toy. We studied about physics, language arts, public speaking, geography, culture, art, and manufacturing. But as I researched there were so many options…

Typical Homeschool Day at Great Peace Academy
A Day in our Homeschool Life I hope you find my ideas and suggestions for homeschooling to be of use and value to you. Below are products that I use in my homeschool and recommend because I like them so much. I am sharing affiliate links for your convenience. If you feel these products would be of benefit to you, you can purchase them at external sites. We are not the wake up at 6:00 a.m. with breakfast on the table and Bible Study complete by 8:00 kind of family. We generally sleep late and stay up late. Perhaps that is why I homeschool. So I don’t have to rush out…

Science Study for Gifted Students
Overview of Survival on the Reef My favorite resource for gifted and advanced learning materials is Prufrock Press. So, I was thrilled as a reviewer and affiliate marketer when I was given a free copy of Survival on the Reef by Colleen Kessler in exchange for my honest review. At Great Peace Academy we are spending our school year exploring the animals that live in the waters of the earth. Because of that, I feelSurvival on the Reefis an excellent resource for my son who is a gifted learner to dive in and explore more information than is generally presented in text books. This activity book guides students in scientific…

This Week… Purposing to do Science & Math
Exploring Student’s Passions Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. This Week… I ditched language arts, music, history, literature, art and more. I turned our school focus on just science and math. My son excels in these areas and sometimes it’s good to let our children explore their passions. Bible: We continued in our study of Samson and he learned that for every action there are consequences. The consequences of Samson marrying the wrong women, led to his destruction. HIs hair was cut, his eyes were plucked out, he was held prisoner. Eventually in destroying his enemies, he destroyed himself. Such a good lesson for a boy to learn. Science: Since…
