30 Days to Give Thanks Day 18
Today I am thankful for the kids in the 3rd & 4th Grade Bible Class that I teach. This morning they worked diligently to say their memory verses. Some did several. But everyone present said at least one. I’m so proud of how much they are working. I’m thrilled to see how they get excited and encourage each other in learning more. What great little learners they are!Proverbs 7:1-3My son, keep my words,And treasure my commands within you.2 Keep my commands and live,And my law as the apple of your eye.3 Bind them on your fingers;Write them on the tablet of your heart.Lord, I thank you for these beautiful children. I thank…

30 Days: Blog Readers & Leibster Award!
30 Days of Giving Thanks: Day 11 Thankful for my blog readers. It was a little more than a year ago that I started blogging. It started out as a natural progression from writing notes on facebook. I wrote little notes for my friends to see what was happening in our homeschool. Those notes got longer and the ideas started flowing. That’s when I created this blog. I didn’t imagine that more than just a few close friends would ever read my posts. What I have found instead is a vast online community where people (mostly women) from all over the globe encourage and support each other in word. My…

30 Days to Give Thanks: Day 9 Homeschool Mom Friends
Day 9: Homeschool Mom Friends Last night I went out for Sushi sans children and husbands with a Homeschool Mom Friend. That was a first for me, sushi in a restaurant. A few months back I spent some time in the home of a this homeschooll family. The mom and I have over the past four years watched our children grow in homeschool world. We’ve supported each other through curricula choices and styles of learning. We talk about differentiation and stretching our children and curricula to meet their needs. We talk about life and faith and the joy and frustration that surrounds us on this journey. While in her home, she…

30 Days to Give Thanks: Day 8 Thankful for Homeschool
30 Days to Give Thanks Link Up Today I am thankful for the right to home-school my child. I’m thankful that I live in a country where I can choose to seek alternative forms of education. I’m grateful that our founding fathers laid forth a plan that would establish freedoms that would last for hundreds of years, and that over time those within the government would continue to build upon those foundations. We are a nation of freedom and even though their are many who are seeking to thwart those freedoms, we are still free to educate our children in our homes, teaching the scriptures and doctrine as we deem…

Homeschool Share Resource & 30 Days to Give Thanks Day 7
I love Homeschool Share. It is a free website that offers unit studies, lapbooks and Five in a Row resources. The Homeschool Share team has put together a super great resource for homeschooling families. Can’t find what you are looking for? That’s ok, you can still print off lapbook templates and then use them to make up your own lapbook unit study. Then you can share them on the site for others to use. Through Pinterest I came across this Egypt Lapbook which is perfect for helping me tie together all of the information that I have been filling Little Man’s head with. I’ve been to Homeschool Share so many times. I use…

Little Man Big Emotions
Emotional Intensity in the Gifted Child I have been struggling this week and last as the teacher of a child with emotional intensity and asynchronous tendencies. Last spring I really began to research gifted and talented tendencies in children. First, let me say that I believe all children have unique gifts and talents. This identification is in my opinion a misnomer. That being said, they are the terms used by educators, psychologists, pediatricians and scientist used to describe people who have a higher IQ than the average person. Beloved and I have not yet chosen to have our son’s IQ tested. Even among the experts there are very mixed opinions…
