Tips from the Coach for Keeping Gifted Children Active

Interview with Chris Quickert from The HomeSchool Gym As a mom to an academically gifted child, I sometimes wonder if I keep him active enough. I know that physical activity is vital to a healthy body. Given the choice of outside play and indoor play, he will usually choose indoor play. Although, he can at times spend hours swinging on the swing. I want to make sure that I am not only providing opportunities for him to be active but that I am guiding him to be motivated to be physically active as he gets older and into his adulthood.   I’m blessed to live near a large metropolitan city.…

Dr. Ben Carson a Real Life Gifted Example

A Man Who is Living His Gift Gifted learning does not always equal real life living. As a mom to a child with gifted and talented abilities, I am cautiously optimistic about his future. When you read stories of those who have or are living with such abilities you often hear that when they reach adulthood, many seem to struggle to find their way in society.  This is often due to emotional intensity and/or asynchronous behavior. So as a mom I wonder at my child’s advanced abilities, and worry about helping him to become an active member of society.  It isn’t often that you hear amazing stories, where someone with…

This activity book guides students in scientific…

    Proficiency Achieved: Onward, Homeschool Math

Learning Math through Online Program         I don’t always toot the horn over accomplishments. I try to live humbly. But on Tuesday I wanted to shout from the rooftops because my Little Man achieved his Proficiency Badge in Algebraic Order of Operations at Khan Academy. He’s achieved several badges,  but this is the one that led us to Khan Academy in the first place. So I am very excited for him.    He and I are loving Khan Academy. For me, I love the freedom that I have in watching him learn and grow in his knowledge of math without feeling pressured to be the one to…
