Marriage Travel: Going and Coming
When Married Couples Travel Separately Occasionally a husband and wife have to leave each for various reasons. Perhaps the wife needs to go and spend time with her family or he must go away for business. This past weekend was such an occasion for Beloved and I. He stayed home with Little Man, and on Saturday had a freelance job to attend to, while I traveled with a friend to a homeschool convention in Cincinnati. I loved my time with my friend Jen and I enjoyed my time at the convention. I loved lingering in the bed on Saturday morning with my feet up and not rushing from here…

Letting the Spirit Speak to My Heart
Sometimes I get weighted down thinking about things that happened in the past. Sins that I have committed against God. Especially ones that have led to long lasting consequences. It’s during these times that Satan is seeking to devour my heart the most. I fight him, but sometimes I’m just too weak. I lose patience and in my frustration or sorrow I lash out with words that should not be thought let alone said. Yet, God is faithful. He has and continues to write His word upon my heart and as I struggled this morning and through last night with such thoughts as unworthiness. I was reminded of this verse: I love…

Training Up My Little Prince
I love teaching the fruit of the spirit to Little Man. In our academy, home and life you might often hear me ask him, “Does that attitude reflect the fruit of the spirit?” or maybe you will hear, “Are you showing self-control?” Or any of the other attributes to the Fruit of the Spirit. This post contains a children’s book review. I received this book for free from the author, all opinions are my own and I was not instructed on what to write. This post also contains affiliate ad links where you may purchase this book. When I learning of Author Danna J. Walters and her book “Every Good…

Marriage Moment: He’s Missing the Point
Maybe you heard this recent news. My husband sent me the link and as I read it I was stunned. You see, I think that he missed the point. Former President Jimmy Carter, known for his Christian beliefs and family values, has chosen to sever ties with his affiliated denomination, the Southern Baptist church stating that he was doing so because of their stance on a woman’s role being in submission to the husband. I am not Baptist, but I am Christian and as I read the article I thought to myself, ‘He’s missing the point.’ You see I don’t believe this is a doctrinal belief isolated solely to the…

A Change of Time
It’s Spring Forward Sunday morning. It’s very early as I’m up and about getting ready for worship. I’m tired after losing an hour of sleep. AND we decided to get up early because I have some prep work to do for the Bible class that I teach before the start of class. Little Man spent the weekend with his grandparents so it’s just me, Beloved and our trusty pet Martha about. We can get ready so much faster, but I truly miss him. As the first light begins to brighten I find myself reflecting on Little Man’s homeschool Bible study this week. The day the sun stood still because Joshua…

Five Minute Friday: Feeling Ordinary
It’s Five Minute Friday. I link up with Lisa Jo Baker where she gives about 100 or so bloggers a weekly prompt with the goal of them each writing for 5 minutes flat.Today’s Prompt:OrdinaryGo.That’s exactly how I feel during this very late night. – OrdinaryI’ve had a lot of very late nights lately. I mean very late. I find myself falling into bed near dawn. It’s not that I don’t want to go to bed. It’s that my body isn’t letting me sleep. Tonight I tried. I really did, and my body just couldn’t get there. I laid there contemplating life while talking it over with Father. Ordinary was exactly…

The Only Potentate
Perhaps it is difficult for some to understand. I believe that the Bible is the perfect and inerrant word of God. That’s not to say every translation is inerrant, for translations are made by men who are in fact imperfect. Yet the Word of God endures forever. His teachings are pure and holy and He set about all things to bring forth the word in it’s entirety in His time. What other document has withstood the test of time like it has? Recently there have been many people around the globe who have been shocked by the announcement that the Catholic pope is resigning. I’m sure there are questions surrounding…

We Use Bible Study Guide for All Ages
A complete Bible Curriculum Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. Please see my disclosure for full information. Thank you for supporting Great Peace Academy. I want to tell you about the Bible curriculum we are using in our homeschool this year. Let’s face it, there is a lot of material out there, but with so many denominations in this world, of which I am not a part, it is hard to find material that I can rely on to be sound in biblical doctrine. My family and I along with the other Christians of whom we fellowship seek to only teach and learn from the Bible. We do not believe in…
