Maybe you’ve bought materials and find that they aren’t what you thought they were. Or, you’ve come to the realization that text books simply do not fit your child’s learning style. What is a family to do when they’ve spent hard-earned money on materials that don’t fit their needs.

First, you can always sell the materials to other homeschoolers, or even used book vendors. Next, instead of spending another huge amount of money consider the use of unit studies instead.

A unit study is simply a study that focuses on a single topic or idea. Then, during that study the student explores the topic from a variety of ways, from reading, to science, math, and writing. The unit, guides them through educational subjects while allowing the topical study to remain the central theme.

When it comes to homeschooling, many find themselves lost on where to find unit studies.
