Breakfast Casserole Ideas for Busy Moms

These breakfast casserole ideas will make it easy to prep breakfast ahead of time and then simply finish the cooking process in the morning. Keep reading to see how I use the prep-ahead method of cooking to make breakfast casseroles a good idea for busy moms.

I don’t know about you, but I find breakfast to be the most difficult meal to get on the table. I either do a great job and we all sit down to eat together or we’re all scattered and likely grabbing a bowl of cereal of stopping by the drive-thru.

But once I realized the issue isn’t what I do in the mornings, but rather what I have prepped before hand, I understood that getting breakfast ready can really be a breeze.

It all starts with prep. Even in the fanciest of restaurant kitchens cooking begins with preparation of ingredients. The French call it, Mise en Place, or putting in place. By simply chopping, pre-cooking, and organizing ingredients the night before, you can pull together these casseroles quickly, and efficiently in the morning. You can even prep those ahead of time in the evening, refrigerate overnight, and simply bake in the morning. 

Then, while the breakfast casseroles bake, you can get dressed for the day.

Bacon Cheddar Egg Casserole from Averie Cooks

This is s simple casserole that combines all the classic breakfast ingredients that we all love. To make breakfast prep even easier, you can prep everything the night before. Measure out all the dry ingredients into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. 

Cook the bacon in the oven during the evening, drain, chop, and place in a zip bag and store in the fridge. Chop the green onion, and store in a small bowl or zip bag in the fridge. In a separate bowl, combine the wet ingredients, cover and refrigerate.

The next morning, simply combine all the ingredients into the dry ingredients, and follow the instructions for baking.

It’s basically a French toast casserole with a twist, using the croissants. To make morning time go a bit smoother you can prep this dish the evening before, and place in the fridge. Then, the next morning, set the casserole on the counter while you pre-heat the oven. Then place in the oven and bake as usual.
